No runs into the 4th as the two 18+ teams battled, swinging wood. Reds took a 3-0 lead in that inning only to be answered by four from the Mets in the bottom. Mets were shut down in the 5th, but answered every inning after.

10-3 Mets in the 8th when both Goldberg and Esparza took HBP and eventually scored to make it 10-5. Newman took a HBP on the other end only to score on Trybom's Sac Fly to make it 11-5 and the final score.

Gunderson - Game 1
Orioles 9
Braves 7
WP: Brian Seifert.
HR >> Orioles: C. Rains, J. Newman (Inside).

O's start season off on the right. Strong pitching by Siefert, as he held a very formidable Braves' offence in check the entire game.

J. Newman hit an inside-the-park HR, while C. Rains connected for a more tradiitional HR. Braves' late-inning rally fell a bit short.

Thought the moment of silence for Dave Nicewonger was a class act, in remembrance.
