Brewer's Erik Goodline Pitches CG and Plays Both Games of Doubleheader On Broken Leg

June 7, 2015

In the first inning of the Brewers doubleheader at Aptos vs Royals on Sunday Brewers pitcher Erik Goodline collided with a Royals base runner while covering first. Unknown to Erik he suffered a fractured knee cap on the play.

Goodline surrendered 5 first inning runs but followed the shaky first with seven scoreless innings before the Royals added two unearned runs in the 9th inning. Goodline ended up with a 9-7 victory - on one leg!

The Brewers were shorthanded all day with only nine players so Goodline had to hobble around left field in game two. Mercifully the Royals cut the game short with a five inning ten run rule 14-1 victory.

14 innings and a complete game pitching performance on a fractured knee cap makes Brewers Erik Goodline the first ever San José MSBL Player of the Week! Erik will be sidelined for 6 weeks as the knee cap heals.

Colt .45's pitcher Jon Rand pitched his own gem firing a one hitter to defeat the defending Nicewonger division champion Mets 1-0. Rand struck out 9 Mets in his seven inning gem. The Mets took the opening game 6-0 behind eight shutout innings from Travis Bearden.

The San José Angels defeated the Reds 8-0 in the first game of their doubleheader behind the shutout pitching of Jason Hershfield. Reds came back to take the second game 10-0.

Marlins and Orioles Pull Off Opening Day Ettare Division Upsets

May 3, 2015

In their first game ever, the Marlins (mostly last year's Padres) shocked the defending division champion Yankees 15-9. Marlins manager Aaron Parker got six solid innings from winning pitcher Will St Clair and Joe Duran raked four hits to pace the Marlins onslaught.

The Orioles, despite losing 13 players from 2014 roster (left to form Royals), outslugged the Phillies 19-14. The O's broke open a 5-5 tie after four innings by scoring 5 runs in the 5th and 7 more in the 6th inning.

The Red Sox turned back the Mariners 10-6 behind Pete Madden who homered in the first inning and pitched the last few innings to get the win. The scrappy Mariners did erase a 6-0 deficit to tie the game before the Red Sox put it away late.

Braves edged the White Sox 10-9 with Paul Codiga pitching seven innings and Juan Ramos earning the win in relief in the closely contested game. Eight Braves had two hits each.

Pirates beat the Rays 14-2 behind the pitching of manager Jeff Jovel and a balanced attack with seven Pirates getting two or more hits.

The Astros spoiled the league debut of the Royals with a 5-2 win breaking open a tie game in the 7th inning. Rob Reid, Jon Norris (win) and Isaack Wilhelm (save) pitched the Astros to victory.
